About the Course
The 2024 City of Chicago Sustainable Development Policy introduces sustainability requirements that influence how applicable projects are designed, documented, and delivered. This workshop explores how project teams can develop a digital strategy around these requirements—starting with understanding the desired outcomes, identifying project risks, and integrating digital expertise early in the design process. Participants will review the policy's applicability, compliance pathways, point-based strategies, and documentation requirements before taking a deeper look at bird-safe design and the relationship between buildings, façades, and bird collisions. The workshop concludes with a hands-on Revit exercise demonstrating how model data, parameters, schedules, calculations, and QA views can be used to evaluate window-to-wall ratio and bird-protection strategies while translating design decisions into compliance documentation.
